I’m Dr Ramandeep Uppal, Principal Dentist and Owner of Handsworth Dental Care. I qualified from King’s College London in 2009 and have spent more than 16 years providing high-quality dental care across all aspects of general dentistry.

Although my career has taken me to some of the UK’s leading educational institutions, my roots have always remained firmly in Birmingham. I was born and raised in Winson Green, just a stone’s throw from Handsworth, and have lived in this area my entire life. It is the community that helped shape who I am, and one that I am proud to serve today.

After graduating from King’s College London, I returned to Birmingham and worked in several busy NHS practices, gaining invaluable experience treating patients from all walks of life. Alongside my clinical work, I continued to invest heavily in my education and professional development. In 2013 and 2014, I achieved postgraduate qualifications through the Royal College of Surgeons, and in 2014 I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Warwick, reflecting my particular interests in orthodontics, oral surgery and helping patients improve both the appearance and function of their smiles.

Education has always been a passion of mine. In 2020, I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from Cardiff University and now play an active role in teaching and supervising newly qualified dentists as they begin their own professional journeys. As an Educational Supervisor, I have the privilege of mentoring and training the next generation of dentists, helping them develop the skills, professionalism and confidence required to provide excellent patient care.

When the opportunity arose to invest in and develop a dental practice within my own community, it was about far more than owning a business. I genuinely believe that the people of Handsworth deserve access to the same standards of dentistry, expertise and technology available in some of the finest clinics anywhere in the world. Too often, highly qualified professionals choose not to work in areas like ours. I felt strongly that our community deserved better, and if I could use my experience to make a difference, then it was a responsibility I was proud to take on.

Over the years, I have invested heavily in both the practice and the technology we provide. Today, our patients benefit from advanced digital dentistry, modern equipment and treatment options comparable to those found in leading practices across London, Los Angeles and beyond—all delivered right here in Handsworth.

My philosophy is simple: every patient deserves honest advice, exceptional care and access to the very best dentistry available. Whether you are visiting us for a routine check-up, cosmetic treatment, orthodontics or complex dental care, my goal is to ensure that every patient receives the same high standard of treatment, attention and respect, regardless of the reason for their visit.
