NHS Dental Charges Explained

NHS dental treatment is divided into three standard bands, depending on the type of care you need:

  • Band 1 – £25.80

Includes an examination, diagnosis (e.g., X-rays), preventive advice, and any necessary planning for further treatment.

  • Band 2 – £70.70

Covers everything in Band 1, plus additional treatment such as fillings, extractions, or root canal treatment.

  • Band 3 – £306.80

Includes everything in Bands 1 and 2, plus more complex procedures like crowns, dentures, or bridges.

Note: NHS dental charges are set by the government and may change annually. Certain groups are exempt from charges—see below.
